We are looking for a Global Strategic Education Advisors (GSEA) - Gender Technical Assistance to the Facility of the Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA) - for the Gender Transformative Pedagogy Flagship who will operate from our Global Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Position in the organisation
As a Global Strategic Education Advisor, you contribute to VVOB’s ambition and our values by being a key person in a specific educational domain / flagship. You provide technical and strategic advice and guidance on this domain within VVOB and partners.
The Global Strategic Education Advisor for the Gender Transformative Pedagogy Flagship reports to the Global Director of Programmes and is part of the Global Programmes Department. You work closely together with the programmes and country teams.
Result areas of this position
You design and develop relevant and scalable projects in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
You provide both short- and long-term strategic advice, information and guidance to VVOB and VVOB’s partners on (a) gender transformative pedagogy specific educational domain(s)/flagship, in line with policy trends, new developments and the latest research and thinking in education and international development.
You guide in the capacity development process according to the needs, particular situations and phases of the programme/flagship.
You create and manage partnerships and strong networks with relevant partners, institutions and organisations and you represent VVOB in relevant platforms and proactively look for synergies and complementarities.
You contribute to internal and external knowledge development and learning, by systemising lessons learned and sharing pro-actively lessons learned between partners, colleagues and other VVOB country teams.
As Global Strategic Education Advisor Gender Technical Assistance to the Facility of the Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA):
You provide technical assistance on gender across the Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA), supporting initiatives of the RTIA implementing partners in the 47 eligible countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. You provide demand-driven, high-quality technical assistance to RTIA partners, including Enabel, EDUFI, ESTDEV, Expertise France and other implementing partners, to strengthen the integration of the transversal topic of gender across the three RTIA windows: technical assistance to governments, direct implementation projects by RTIA partners, and research initiatives. This means you are a highly flexible and versatile expert on Gender in Education, with the ability to operate in a wide variety of contexts and expertise domains in relation to gender and education.
You work in close functional alignment with the Deputy Team Leader of RTIA, based at Expertise France in Addis Ababa, ensuring that VVOB’s technical support responds to RTIA priorities, partner needs and emerging opportunities.
You lead the development and quality assurance of tools, guidance, learning products and technical resources that help RTIA partners embed gender in the various windows and activities of the RTIA.
You lead capacity strengthening of RTIA partners by facilitating learning exchanges, technical workshops, and tailored advisory support on gender transformative pedagogy.
You support coherence and alignment between VVOB’s Gender Transformative Pedagogy Flagship and RTIA’s broader objectives, ensuring that technical assistance is evidence-informed, context-responsive and complementary to partner efforts.
You help position VVOB as a strategic technical partner on gender and gender transformative pedagogy in particular within RTIA, contributing to joint learning, evidence generation, policy influence and donor-facing communication.
